Everyday Communities

Following Jesus is often described by the writers of the New Testament as a journey—a journey that we were never meant to walk alone.
When Jesus first invited his first apprentices to follow him, he did not invite them to follow him as individuals but in community.
It’s actually not possible to follow Jesus on our own.
The goal of our apprenticeship to Jesus is that we would become people of love—that much is clear when Jesus declares love to be the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:37-40. But in order to become people of love we must have a context in which to give and receive love—we need to be in deep, committed relationships with others.
God is not just looking for people of love but communities of love.
And so Everyday Communities are families in which we can grow as apprentices of Jesus together—being with him, becoming like him, and doing as he did—as we go on this journey of living life to the full everyday.
Elements
Everyday Communities have three elements:

Gather in homes
Twice a month our communities gather in homes to connect around a table as we eat together, encourage one another in the joys and challenges of life as we share stories and pray for one another, and take time to learn through the equipping of the bible and other resources.

Gather to serve
Once a month our Communities gather to serve the people of the Central Coast, particularly those who are marginalized. This might look like serving a meal to the unhoused, doing yard work for an elderly neighbor, or partnering with a local non-profit.

Gather for worship + prayer
Once a month we gather all of our Communities together for worship and prayer. We take time to seek God’s presence and to call on his name to fulfill the promises that he has made over our lives, our church, our region, and our world.
